Kamakshi, the goddess of desires, she is seen here with all the symbols of Kama the god of love. Including the parrot, sugarcane and flowered arrow. She sits on Shiva forcing him to participate in the worldly life.
They form the completeness of life,
The mutable prakriti or nature and the unchanging soul. The purusha
She faces the north and he the south
She faces the permanence of the ever blazing tapa of the soul while he faces the ever changing flow of the Rasa of nature.
Shamilajee,
ReplyDeletePrakriti and Purush : these words have played a pivotal role in filling the pages of our scriptures. The concept of Shiv Limgam is unique in the world. And as you mentioned, there are some common mythologies in our scriptures and of the early European's, especially those which are more than two thousand years old.
By the way the caricatures are neat and speaking ones.

ReplyDeleteThe yin and yang the masculine and feminine are are in each sphere of life. The myths are so fascinating. I had read Shivlilamruit(tried reading it as a teenager) but was unable to comprehend. I should read it now to find out.
The myths gave importance to both the forces then why later on the masculine has dominated.Yes I am aware of te reasons but is this evolution in some other way?
